There is less time left until the end of 2018 and it's time to look back and see what the world of cinema has pleased us in the past 12 months. It’s about the latter that we’ll talk about today, more precisely, about a dozen fighters of the past year, which all fans of the genre should see.
10. The thirst for death
A thriller with elements of a thriller from the director Eli Roth, which is a remake of the picture of the same name by Michael Winner, which was released back in 1974. In the main role - the recognized master of the genre Bruce Willis, and the company on the set he was composed of Vincent D’Onofrio and Dean Norris. The plot is quite simple: the hero is a successful surgeon and an exemplary family man named Paul. His measured life collapses at one moment when his house is robbed, crippling his wife and daughter. The wife dies in the hospital, but the police are in no hurry to give up all their efforts in search of criminals, so Paul decides to administer justice on his own.
9.22 miles
And again, a very typical action movie with an equally good cast: starring Mark Wahlberg and John Malkovich. Wahlberg plays the commander of a special squad of American intelligence, and Malkovich - his chief. The team is faced with the task of capturing a batch of cesium, but during the operation they are attacked, and they remain in a hostile country alone with the enemy. To save them, they must overcome 22 miles, where armed soldiers, traps and other dangers await them at every turn.
8. Tomb Raider: Lara Croft
Restarting the cult franchise about the charming tomb raider, whose image was tried on by Alicia Vikander, who, incidentally, has in her collection an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She also has the US Screen Actors Guild Award, so you should not worry about acting in the film - everything is in order here. In the story, Lara goes in search of her father and ends up on a mysterious island. Here she has to pass a real test of strength: serious tests await her. Critics and viewers greeted the picture coolly, so at the box office she managed to earn less than $ 300 million with a budget of almost $ 100 million, but it's still worth spending a couple of hours watching it. This is Lara Croft, how can this be missed?
7. Escape Plan 2
The 2013 sequel of the tape with Sylvester Stallone in the title role, but without Arnold Schwarzenegger. Instead, there are now a mass of Asian actors who were not accidentally taken: Chinese studios financed the film. For the same reason, they have much more screen time than Slay. He and his friends have to escape from a new prison with an almost perfect security system. This time we are waiting for not only a battle of minds and characters, but also a lot of hand-to-hand fights (Asians without them anywhere).
6. Killer 2: Against All
And again the sequel, this time to the 2015 action movie with Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro, who play the CIA agent and the mercenary. They have to deal with Mexican drug cartels who are suspected of arms smuggling. After the terrorist attack, which killed 15 people, the CIA leadership allows you to use any measures to curb such cases, so there is no question of legal methods. Abductions, murders, betrayal - all in the best traditions of the genre.
5. Dangerous business
Amazon Studios comedy action movie with a whole bunch of star names on the poster: Joel Edgerton, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfred and others. Events unfold around an employee of a large company, who decides to "make money" on kidnapping. He does not want to harm anyone, so he decides to kidnap himself. He demands a ransom for the actual release from his own employers, who do not intend to part with such an impressive amount so easily.
4. Rampage
The film is based on the Midway Games series with Dwayne Johnson in the title role. He appears in the guise of a scientist-primatologist who will disentangle the consequences of an unsuccessful experiment in crossing DNA. Because of him, some of the monkeys, the wolf and the crocodile turned into real monsters: they grew in size and became extremely aggressive. A mutated gorilla named George is the “friend” of the hero, he courted her for more than one year and became close to the animal. Now only he can find a common language with him in order to save the world from other monsters.
3. Mission Impossible: Consequences
The ageless Tom Cruise is back in business: in the sixth part of the franchise, he again has to save thousands of lives, while simultaneously revealing conspiracies. He and his faithful team will be as close to failure as possible, but once again they will do the impossible and win the dangerous fight. Although the story is banal, it was shot almost perfectly, which is proved by the fees: almost 800 million dollars around the world at a cost of less than 200 million
2. Thief Hunt
A brave policeman (Gerard Butler) learns that a powerful criminal is plotting to rob the Federal Reserve Bank of America and decides to thwart his plans. That's essentially all you need to know about the plot. This is more than enough for a comfortable viewing and enjoyment of beautiful chases, well-organized shootings and fights.
1. Deadpool 2
The sequel to the acclaimed film comic about a chatty mercenary in a red leotard. His beloved, Vanessa, is being killed (she was also pregnant), which completely destabilizes Deadpool's psyche. He tries to commit suicide and arranges an explosion, but the Colossus finds parts of his body, helping him recover. Experiencing a strong depression, the main character joins Detachment X, and here the fun begins. It is after these events that he will meet a boy with incredible abilities, as well as a mercenary with a cyber prosthetic arm from the future (Josh Brolin). In general, everything is as in the first part, but bigger and better. More jokes (including below the belt), more action, more drive.
