There are 195 countries on the planet, not counting the unrecognized state political and state entities. They have a different form of government, the level of economic development. They differ from each other in the occupied area and population. But there is a special category of countries whose territories are located in different parts of the world. We will take a short tour of the political map of the world, and consider the transcontinental states of our vast planet.
All transcontinental states of the world for 2019:

The formation of the state began in the European part, and then with the development of new lands in the south and east of Eurasia, new territories were annexed to the Russian state.
The official date for the accession of the eastern lands is considered the campaign of Ermak, which took place in 1581-1585. The process of including Siberia and the Far East in Russia, which began in the 16th century, ended only by the beginning of the 20th century.

The main part of the country is located in Asia, but Indonesia belongs to the western part of the island of New Guinea, and this already applies to Oceania.
But geographers suggest that all of Indonesia lies in Asia, as the border between the two parts of the world runs along 141 ° East, on the very border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
5
Turkey
Another state of the world is comfortably located on the border of Europe and Asia. In Istanbul, Istanbul even runs a conditional line between two parts of the world.
The Ottoman Empire owned vast territories in the European part of the continent of Eurasia, and now the main territory of the eastern country is located in Asia, and only a small part in Europe. Turkey in 1974 captured part of Cyprus, which also expanded its Asian possessions.

Colonial Italy collapsed as a result of World War II, but the country continues to own a number of small islands that continental belong to Africa.

Greece
The Greeks themselves call their country "Hellas", and the Latin name "Greece" is practically not used within the country.
Greece is rightfully considered the cradle of European civilization. Since it was here that the foundations of European culture and scientific knowledge were born. The main territories of the Netherlands are in northwestern Europe, but the Netherlands also has several lands in other parts of the world. This is the island of Bonaire, spread out in the Caribbean, and geographically related to the American continent.
The Dutch territories in America include the island of Sint Eustatius and Saba. These are special communities outside the province of the Netherlands.
