Lake Balaton
This wonderful lake, spread on the Middle Danube plain, is the largest in Central Europe, and the Hungarians lovingly call it the "Pearl of the country."
The lake is the country's most important resort, and the oldest city on its coast is the town of Keszthely, leading its history from the beginning of the XIII century. There is also the Tihany Peninsula, amazing in its natural beauty.

Buda Castle
The first citadel on the site of the modern Castle in the Hungarian capital was built by King Bela IV in the middle of the 13th century.
The dome of the majestic castle on Mount Gellert can be seen from anywhere in Budapest. Initially, the fortress protected the Hungarian tribes from the raids of the Tatar-Mongol warriors, and then became the residence of the Hungarian kings.
A similar castle was located in the city of Vysehrad, but was destroyed during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Now Buda Castle is one of the main attractions of the capital, which houses many museums and the National Library of Hungary.

Episcopal Palace
On the Fortress Hill of the Hungarian city of Veszprem, the majestic Episcopal Palace, erected in the 70s of the XVIII century, rises above the historical part.
The author of the project was architect Fellner, and they built a residence for Bishop Ignaz Koller. The building, made of white marble in the Baroque style, became a real decoration of the Hungarian city.
The facade is decorated with numerous sculptural compositions, including figures of angels placed on the pediment, supporting large vases with beautiful flowers.

Grashshalkovich Palace
In the town of Godele is one of the largest palace complexes in Europe, built in the first half of the XVIII century.
Count Antal Grashshalkovich I began construction in 1733, and it took 30 years to finish the monumental palace. Koroleva Maria-Teresa, who visited the palace in 1751, was struck by its magnificence and decoration.
Built in the Baroque style, the palace is very popular among tourists, and it hosts exhibitions, festivals, concerts of classical and popular music.

Eger fortress
After the Tatar-Mongols destroyed the settlement of Eger, the bishop ordered the construction of a stone fortress, which would protect the local population from raids by nomads.
In 1552, the defenders of the fortress courageously repelled the numerous attacks of Turkish troops. Five weeks, 2 thousand Hungarians under the command of Istvan Dobo restrained the siege of 40 thousand Turks, and the enemy was forced to retreat.
Now it is a national museum, and tourists can get acquainted with the history of the fortress, visit the Istvan Dobo museum, towers and underground casemates.

Reformed Cathedral
Debrecen is famous not only for being the second most populated city in Hungary, but also for its many monuments of architecture and history.
Among the magnificent buildings, the Reformed Cathedral - the largest Protestant cathedral in the country - stands out especially. It was here that the independence of Hungary was proclaimed.

Basilica of St. Adalbert
The main Catholic cathedral of Hungary, located in the city of Esztergom, today is the largest church in the country and one of the tallest buildings.
The cathedral, consecrated in honor of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary and St. Adalbert, dates back to 1001. Over a thousand-year history, it was rebuilt several times, and in 1856, residents saw a beautiful new cathedral, built by the project of Janos Pakkh.

Fire tower of the town of Sopron
Arranged in the neo-Renaissance style, the fire tower rises above the town to a height of 60 m, and is considered one of Sopron's business cards.
The first tower was built in the XI century, using the remains of a Roman villa for the foundation. Over its long history, the tower has been rebuilt several times.
At the bottom are the “Gate of Fidelity” in memory of the 1921 referendum, when residents of the town voted to join Hungary in a referendum.

Garden of Ruins
Hungarian Szekesfehervar was first mentioned as an urban settlement under 972, and one of its attractions is the unique remains of a 11th-century basilica.
Archaeologists discovered it by excavating the historical part of the city. It was within the ancient cathedral that the Hungarian kings who ruled even before the Turkish occupation were buried.
The famous Ruin Garden is located on Coronation Square, and its name was given with a light hand to archaeologists who partially restored the foundation of the basilica.

Selim Cave
One of the most beautiful and famous natural attractions is located near the town of Tatabanya on one of the slopes of Mount Gereche.
A cave was formed in a natural way as a result of the influence of water flows on rocks. Its length is 45 m, and the arches of some halls reach a height of 14 m.
In the cave, archaeological research was carried out as a result of which, traces of primitive people were discovered.

The historic center of Gyor

Indeed, the urban development of the 18th century, with beautiful residential buildings, churches and castles, has miraculously been preserved here. The buildings are built in the style of classic Austrian baroque, and are original monuments of history and architecture.

The ruins of Roman Savaria
In the historical center of one of the oldest Hungarian cities of Szombathely, there are unique ruins of the Roman settlement of Savaria.
The archaeological complex includes the remains of the temple of Isis, built in the III century, as well as the foundation and part of the walls of the early Christian basilica of the IV century.
Among other finds, it should be noted the remains of the imperial palace, public baths, artisan quarters. In the very center of the settlement, archaeologists explored the unique sanctuary of Mercury.

In western Hungary, there is a mirror of a thermal lake, which got its name from the resort town of the same name.

Tokay-Hedaglia

Koseg Fortress
Köseg, famous for its stone fortress, which was built in the 15th century, is located 220 km west of Budapest.
Initially, the monumental fortification belonged to the famous family of Garai. By their order, a magnificent tower was erected, on the ground floor of which a wine cellar was equipped.
There was a heroic episode in the history of the fortress, when a small detachment led by Miklos Yurishich stopped the passage of the Turkish army. In honor of this event, bells are beaten at 11 a.m. every day.
